MNLink How To

Find and Request Books from Minnesota Libraries

Looking for books for your research project? You can search MNLink.org, the online catalog of most MN libraries, to find books on your topic.

On the search results page you may find the filter options, such as Subject, helpful to narrow your list of results.

You may notice ebooks as a filter option. However, ebooks are not accessible through MNLink.org. For your research, focus on print books.

Click on the Record Title to see what libraries in MN have the book and to request the book. Notice at the top you can click on Cite to get a formatted citation for your bibliography.

Click on the Request Item button. Enter your public library card number and PIN (if your library gave you one) and click Login:

Please note: MNLink accounts are linked to your local public library card number. If you have a library card use the number on the back of the card to access your MNLink account. If you do not have a library card check with your school's media specialist to see if they can borrow an item through MNLink on your behalf. If not, you will need to get a library card to use this service.

Once logged in, the book information will already be filled in. Make sure to also select your library/branch before completing request:

Check your emails for updates from your library when your book is ready to be picked up.
